Here is a brief snapshot to help you get to know Pete better: - Currently serving as Representative Kansas House, District 81 Parts of south Sedgwick County and northern Sumner County East of McConnell AFB and Derby South Haysville, all of Clearwater, Mulvane, Peck and Belle Plaine - Married to Karen for 28 years - Four children Simeon (23) – Senior, Emporia State (Elementary Education) Caleb (21) – Senior, Wichita State (Business Administration) Titus (19) – Sophomore, Cowley Community College Anneke (17) – Senior in High School - Born in Holland in 1957 - Naturalized Citizen at 8 yrs of age - Graduated from High School in 1975 Eagle Scout – Paper Route – High School Stage Manager - Graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1979 - Flew Helicopters for the United States Air Force, 1979-1986 Captain - Instructor Pilot - Flight Examiner Combat Rescue and VIP Support – UH-1N Helicopter Colorado, Alabama, New Mexico, and Japan - Resigned military commission and moved to Wichita in 1987 - Wichita Area Director for Crown Financial Ministries - 1987-1991 - Graduated from College of Financial Planners in 1990 - Financial Counseling Practice and Ministry from 1991-2000 Habitat for Humanity Board – Vice President Co-founder – HopeNet, Inc - Founder and President, Shepherd's Staff Ministries, Inc. 2000- present Financial Counseling Ministry Sells no insurance or investment products Supervises 120 trained volunteer financial counselors - Has lived in Kansas House District 81st since 1995 Remodeling an old farmhouse just east of Mulvane - Political Experience Gore Township Republican Precinct Committeeman since 1996 Chairman, Sumner County Republican Central Committee, 2005-2007 Treasurer for Ray La Boeuf’s run for State Senate Served as Alternate Delegate for the 4th Congressional District - Serving as an elder at Jesus the Good Shepherd’s Church |
